Frequently asked questions
01What is Hook It?
An online tool that turns a long video (podcast, stream, interview, lesson…) into captioned vertical clips, ready for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
02How does it work?
Upload a video, pick the platform, the number of clips and a style. Hook It transcribes, finds the best moments, reframes to 9:16, adds captions and exports validated MP4s.
03Do I need video editing skills?
No. The defaults are enough; a simple editor then lets you adjust boundaries, captions, framing or zoom if you want.
04Can I create TikTok and YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Exports are vertical 9:16 (720×1280 during the beta) and fit TikTok, Shorts and Reels.
05Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, MKV and WEBM. Maximum length and size depend on the beta limits.
06How do credits work?
1 credit = 1 minute of source video processed, rounded up. Credits are only charged if the analysis succeeds; downloading or tweaking a clip is free.
07Can I edit generated clips?
Yes: title, boundaries, caption text, style, colours, size, position, framing and zoom. Then re-render.
08Is the beta free?
Yes. During the invitation-only private beta, Hook It is completely free: 30 credits per month, no credit card (720p exports with watermark).
09What content am I allowed to upload?
Only videos you created or are authorised to edit and publish. A public video is not copyright-free, and adding captions does not make a reuse lawful.
