Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-10-24

DRAFT — pending legal review. This document is not a final contractual offer.

011. Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Hook It service (the “Service”), available at hookit.fr. By creating an account, you accept them.

The Service is published by Enzo PITRE, a private individual, as a personal project (“we”). Contact: enzo.pitre33@gmail.com.

022. Free, invitation-only beta

During the current phase, the Service is free and available by personal invitation only: an invitation is valid only for the email address it was sent to and cannot be transferred.

The Service is under development: its features, limits and quotas may change, and interruptions may occur. No paid plan is open; if paid plans are offered, they will be governed by separate terms of sale accepted when subscribing.

We may end the beta or the Service by notifying you by email at least 30 days in advance; you will then be able to download your exports and export your data.

033. Account

You must be of legal age, or have permission from your legal guardian, and provide a valid email address that you confirm. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity on your account.

Creating multiple accounts to bypass the Service's limits may lead to suspension of the accounts involved.

044. Your content and rights

You keep all rights to the videos you upload and to the clips produced.

You warrant that you hold the rights required to upload, modify and publish this content: copyright, related rights (music, performances), image and voice rights of the people filmed, trademarks. A publicly available video is not copyright-free; adding captions or reframing does not make a reuse lawful.

You grant us only the right to store, transcribe, analyse and transform your content as needed to provide the Service. We do not publish your content and do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.

055. Importing from YouTube and other platforms

When your account allows importing a video from a link, you may only import content you created or that the rights holders have authorised you to use, and only in compliance with the source platform's terms. YouTube's terms, for example, only allow downloading content where they expressly permit it or with permission from YouTube and the rights holders.

The Service only imports public content available without signing in: it refuses private, paid, live or technically protected (DRM) content and never uses your credentials on those platforms. You confirm you hold the rights before each import. This feature may be limited or disabled at any time.

066. Artificial intelligence: how it works and its limits

The Service relies on automated processing: speech recognition, moment detection, suggested clips, titles, descriptions and scores, automatic reframing and captioning. Transcript text (and, for some features, notes and titles you enter) is sent to our AI provider to produce these suggestions; it is not used to train its models.

These results may be wrong: mis-transcribed words, names or figures; captions out of sync or incomplete; cuts in the wrong place or out of context; reframing that loses the subject; inaccurate titles and descriptions; scores that are only estimates. Review and check every clip before publishing it: you alone are responsible for what you publish.

077. Credits

1 credit equals 1 minute of source video analysed, rounded up to the minute. The credits needed are reserved when processing starts and only charged if the analysis succeeds; processing that fails or that you cancel costs nothing. Rendering, style changes and downloads do not use credits.

During the beta, a free account with a confirmed email address receives the monthly allowance shown on the Pricing page; these credits expire at the end of the calendar month and do not roll over. Credits have no monetary value: they are not refundable, exchangeable or transferable.

088. Prohibited content and moderation

You must not use the Service to process or produce unlawful content, including: child sexual abuse material; intimate content shared without consent; incitement to hatred, violence or terrorism; harassment; impersonation or misleading deepfakes; content infringing third-party rights. You must not bypass technical protection measures or deliberately overload the infrastructure.

We do not generally monitor your content. When content is reported to us or abuse is detected, we may remove it, restrict access to it or suspend the account involved, in proportion to the seriousness. Except in urgent cases or where the law requires otherwise, we inform you of the decision and its reasons; you can contest it by writing to enzo.pitre33@gmail.com. Child sexual abuse material is reported to the authorities.

099. Responsibilities

You are responsible for the content you import, for the permissions you declare you hold and for how you use the clips produced.

We use reasonable means to provide a Service that matches its description, but we do not guarantee that automated processing is error-free, any number of views or revenue, or that your content is eligible for monetization. We are not responsible for decisions by third-party platforms (removal, restriction, demonetization). Keep your original files: the Service is not an archiving tool.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights, or our liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct or personal injury.

1010. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy. Your videos, projects, transcripts, clips and exports are then erased and your email address is removed from the account. Some data is kept for a limited time or to meet our obligations, as set out in the Privacy policy.

We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, after informing you, except in urgent cases or where the law requires otherwise.

1111. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Any significant change will be notified by email at least 30 days before it applies; if you do not accept it, you can delete your account.

1212. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If a problem arises, please write to us first at enzo.pitre33@gmail.com to seek an amicable solution. Failing that, the courts designated by law have jurisdiction; if you are a consumer, you may bring a claim before the courts of your place of residence.
